[Informal Review] The Riverman

*review taken from my account in Goodreads

This is one of those books I've read the last chapter over and over again, trying to find clues of what actually happened. Is this really for kids? The story starts with a boy who got drowned and washed away in the river and died. This was aimed for children, so there were themes about stories and imagination and worlds you can create on your own. But somehow, something went wrong in the process. There was a villain, which is no

rmal for a kids story, but somehow The Riverman has it curled up. It involved a girl who got too caught up that the other kids claimed her as a weirdo. Yet, there's something terrifying and real about her stories that I think, if I was in Alistair's position, would surely bother me. Now Alistair, who is twelve, acts like twelve. He wants to play games. He wants to try things that are either courageous or stupid. He is polite with people. He is a good friend. Yet at the same time, he is the entire opposite. “Not every child is young.” I think this quote from the book has it all summed up.This is one of those books I've read the last chapter over and over again, trying to find clues of what actually happened. Is this really for kids?
